CAM103 - "cigar-shaped" numberplate reversing camera - 1/3" 600TVL Premium CMOS sensor - 4 pin connector
The number plate is a popular area to mount a reversing/parking camera on a car. There are cheap cameras that look similar to this model, this camera is built to last, and to perform. The cheap ones are notorious amongst fitters for leaking due to the barrel design. We use a factory for this camera that makes very high end cameras for some very expensive brands (selling 2-3 times our price), we've never had a leaked camera, and the only time we have seen a camera back has been user damage (crushed cable as they put it between the number plate light and tightened).
The image quality is top-notch, firstly it uses a modern high-res 600TVL PC1058 image sensor, secondly, it has a very good quality aspheric lens, which despite its wide 150-degree angle doesn't show a "fishbowl" effect.
The camera comes with a 90cm fly lead with a 4 pin aviation connector at the end, extension cables and adaptors (for some connector types) are available.
Numberplate reversing cameras such as this one are popular on cars although any vehicle can choose to use this location for their camera. If your number plate is not centrally located we usually recommend considering other options that can be as close to the centre of your vehicle as possible.
We have seen versions of this "cigar" shaped number plate camera in the past and they didn't have a good reputation, those ones were made out of plastic and had a tendency to leak (due to expansion/contraction of the plastic case with the weather). We've had an amazingly low fault rate with this metal version of the camera, it comes from a factory that makes products for another well-known company selling kits for 2-3 times the price.
The angle of the camera can be adjusted up/down, plus the camera barrel can be taken out of the case and re-inserted the other way up, so you can mount the camera on the horizontal ledge of your number plate or on a vertical surface. A customer sent us the following picture of it mounted on the ledge between their number plate lights.
This camera uses a very wide-angle lens at 150°, yet it doesn't look like the cheap "fishbowl effect" wide-angle cameras due to its aspheric lens, which keeps the picture looking a lot straighter still.
The camera has 4 powerful IR night vision leds to provide night vision in dark conditions, don't worry about them shining at following drivers at night as the light they make is below the visible spectrum of the human eye (only the camera will see the light).
The image sensor is a very nice quality hi-res premium cmos sensor with 600tvl.
Mainland UK
We have three postage options to select from during checkout (on larger items eg kits there will be two options):
Royal Mail Tracked - Smaller / Lighter weight orders. This will be sent via Royal Mails Tracked Service. They will send emails/SMS to inform you of the tracking events. This option won't be shown for heavier weight orders.
DPD 2 Day. Small or large orders. This will be sent with DPD Local and should arrive within two working days (if you place the order before 12:30PM).
DPD Next Day. Small or large orders. This will be sent with DPD Local and should arrive the following working day (if you place the order before 12:30PM).
Highlands and Islands UK
We offer a 2-3 day service fulfilled with either Royal Mail Post, or Parcel Force. The prices charged are identical to mainland UK. Small orders will be sent via the post, larger orders via Parcel Force.
Outside of the UK
We shop around when selecting the best method for Europe (we avoid the cheap budget couriers due to parcels being lost). Southern Ireland is always sent via DPD. Other countries will usually be either Parcel Force, UPS, or Fedex. Please note that we require a phone number for international deliveries. Also if you are a company in Europe, a VAT number or EORI number will help speed up customs.
We remove the UK VAT (Tax) when any country other than the UK is selected in the shopping basket or checkout. From this point all prices on the site drop down to exclude VAT. If you are from the Channel Islands, please select Jersey / Guernsey from the country list in order to remove UK sales Tax.
60 day "Change of Mind" policy
We understand that for whatever reason you may need to return your purchase. We provide a 60 day opportunity for you to do just that. Simply give us an email or a phone call to let us know it is due back. You are responsible for the shipping back to us but you will receive a full refund including the original shipping we charged you for your order. We recommend getting a signed for or proof of postage when posting back to us.
All we ask is that you return the items in the condition they were sent in, with the packaging present. You are welcome to have temporarily tested the product and unravelled things, but if you have cut wires, soldered, glued, installed and used for a while then this wouldn't be suitable for returns under the change of mind policy.
